Dead Fish Handshake Take New EP to the Road

When you’ve shared the bill with national music acts like Collective Soul, Ed Kowalczyk (Live), Pop Evil, Sponge, Hurt, and Queensryche, you know you’ve got an impressive sound. But Dead Fish Handshake isn’t stopping there.

When the four piece rock group crafted their latest album, “The Sixes,” they turned to Sevendust’s Clint Lowery to elevate their sound. The end product shows why they’ve been moving alongside with these rock veterans.

The band’s sophomore EP is soaked in pure rock ‘n’ roll, dripping with a raw intensity that quickly captivates listeners. The vocals wear a rough edge (Matthew Paul), which is both showcased and balanced by creative and catchy melodies. Guitar turns (Rob Ferreira) strike with an atmospheric feel that’s high energy instead of ambient, a rare quality that’s previously emerged in bands like Nine Inch Nails and U2. They’re rounded out by the partnership of clean, consistent bass work (Darren Furman) and driving, steady drum lines (Mark Birkelbach). These ingredients have positioned them dead center of the rock radio dial.
Dead Fish Handshake’s unadulterated rock ‘n’ roll sound is a result of their no bells-and-whistles approach.

“We want to create a quality, accessible sound” said Paul. “’The Sixes’ accomplishes both by creatively highlighting the fundamentals, and avoiding excessive layers of sound that hinder us instead of help us.”
